Fortunately for New Yorkers, there are lots of amazing and affordable destinations that are easily reached by car and that won’t break the budget. So make sure that your vehicle is equipped for winter weather and hit the road to enjoy the season in comfort and relaxation!

Lake Placid, New York

Lake Placid is a favorite getaway spot for New Yorkers, and it’s just a five-hour drive from Manhattan. There are some great resorts and spas here, including the Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, which is on Whiteface Mountain – a great place for skiing. The rustic yet luxurious Lake Placid Lodge is also a popular place to stay, and there is cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating onsite.

North Adams, Massachusetts

Take a 3.5 hour drive from Manhattan to reach North Adams, a Massachusetts town with art, culture, and outdoor adventures. Visit the Clark Art Institute, MASS MoCA, and the Williams College Museum after a brisk winter hike in the Berkshire Hills.
